Joint Fish Out ~ Ospreys, Totems & Loons

Squamish River ~ April 10, 2016

This is an annual event taking place on the second Sunday in April. As usual, the group met for breakfast at Tim Horton's in Squamish, before heading off to the river. It was a beautiful day, however, the river was running high. Water levels on the Squamish were changing daily depending not on rain, but how warm it was. A record snowpack and warm temperatures caused mayhem for anglers from April on. Many of the popular runs were inaccessable by foot ... wading was treacherous, and one rod was broken crossing a small side channael. Consequently, a few members headed up the Ashlu in search of fishable water and the elusive bull trout. Despite the conditions, a few rainbows and bull trout were landed ... the largest of which was caught by guest, Paul Richardson. All in all - a good day.
